Neighborhood: Lower Price Hill

Company: Nehemiah Manufacturing Company, LLC

Year: 2017

Project Type: Real Estate Development

Description: The City worked with Nehemiah Manufacturing Company, LLC (Nehemiah), a local consumer products manufacturer/repackager, to realize its corporate mission to “build brands, create jobs, and change lives”. Dan Meyer and Richard Palmer founded Nehemiah in 2009, leveraging their successful business experiences at companies including Procter & Gamble and other multi-million-dollar firms. Nehemiah creates job opportunities for the chronically unemployed in the inner city to achieve steady work and the hope of a better future.

As Nehemiah’s space and production needs expanded, the City offered 7 of acres of the newly remediated Metro West Commerce Park. This land used to be home to the Queen City Barrell company, which burnt down in 2004. Nehemiah is using the land to build a new 180,000 square foot, $12 million office and manufacturing building to accommodate and consolidate its operations. The building will house the comapny's corporate headquarters and all its manufacturing/distribution functions, as well as in-house social services to holistically support its workforce beyond employment considerations.

Total Investment: $12 million

Type of City Assistance: Sale of city property, Community Reinvestment Area Tax Abatement (CRA)
