Downtown Vending Program (DVP)

The City of Cincinnati’s Downtown Vending Program (DVP) enables merchandise vendors to sell from the public right-of-way in the downtown area. This program was created to encourage and support local entrepreneurs to be a part of the thriving Downtown Cincinnati business community.

DVP Basics

  • Operates as the City's method for managing the sale of merchandise on sidewalk in the downtown area.
  • Merchandise vending is managed through the Department of Community and Economic Development
  • Food vending is managed by the Cincinnati Health Department

How can I apply?

The City holds a lottery to assign spaces available in the downtown area. This year, the lottery will take place on Thursday, March 15 at 9:30am in 805 Central Avenue, 1st Floor Auditorium. You can find the application here. This event is open to the public and the following costs and qualifications apply:
  • $25.00 application fee per vending location
  • $5.00 badge fee per employee (available from the City Treasurer)
  • $400.00 annual permit fee
  • Person/Business must hold a minimum of $1M Commercial Liability Insurance, naming the City of Cincinnati as an additional insured
