Northside, originally known as Cumminsville until the construction of I-74 split it from South Cumminsville, was annexed in 1873. Currently, the neighborhood is an eclectic, vibrant scene with independently-owned restaurants, retail, salons, and more. Likewise, the tight-knit community is comprised of very diverse residents. Creative types, artists, college students, young professionals, and families of all ages have made Northside their home, with a community tone that is welcoming to all, and neighborhood celebrations are plentiful during warmer months.
Neighborhood development is led by the Northside Community Council, which provides an opportunity for all individuals and groups in the community to participate in Northside’s present and to chart Northside’s future. As such, it is committed to bringing people of diverse backgrounds and opinions together in an atmosphere that fosters cooperation and communication.
